PEACE series - 1994

Selected Images

The PEACE series was incorporated into a video in honor of Ralph Dunne who had just suffered a massive stroke while vacationing in Sweden.
Although he was still hospitalized, I presented it to him on our 40th anniversary, December 10, 1994.

PEACE
by Ralph Dunne

I've sat on the saddle of the hill,
    and have walked the ridges looking down on glens and dales tucked in lowered folds.

I have traced the stream from indented slope through winding canyons and threading alluvial fan.
I have sipped slow, cool springs,    eaten the berries,    and chewed the miner's lettuce.
The oaks I have climbed.
The rocks of granite I have scaled.
And always, peace was at my side.

And when I have left the hill,    the hills,     the mountains,
I have looked for other hills;
           and though I have climbed and through I have sat upon strange and passive hills,
I looked for my granite hill:
           the hill of grass,       the hill of trees,            the hill of life,            my life.
And peace waited for me to return.
